Richard Andersson NOR ásamt Anne Efternøler - Múlinn Jazzklúbbur

Harpa | Björtuloft, Austurbakki 2, 101 Reykjavík Directions

Tue 21.07.2026 20:00

With a clear and sensitive musical voice shaped by Nordic melancholy and a carefully measured volcanic temperament, award-winning bassist Richard Andersson’s Danish-Icelandic trio NOR has captivated audiences across Scandinavia through more than 100 performances over the past decade.

The trio now joins forces with trumpeter Anne Efternøler, whose deeply personal sound and poetic sense of storytelling open new pathways within NOR’s distinctive musical landscape. Together, the quartet explores a rich and evocative repertoire where lyrical improvisation, atmospheric soundscapes, and strong melodic narratives meet. Alongside bandleader Andersson, NOR features two of Iceland’s leading jazz musicians, saxophonist Óskar Guðjónsson (ADHD, Jakob Bro, Mezzoforte) and drummer Matthías MD Hemstock.

Built around compositions by Andersson and Guðjónsson, NOR released it's debut album "Nor" in 2017, followed by "The Six of Us" in 2018. Both recordings received critical acclaim in Denmark and internationally. The jazz magazine Salt Peanuts described the trio as “a tight unit, with a strong, emphatic interplay, as of a close family but of the Scandinavian kind, well-behaved, quiet and gentle.”

Their critically acclaimed album "Undo" (2023), nominated for a Danish Music Award Jazz, featured the distinctive guitar work of Hilmar Jensson and further established NOR as one of the most compelling voices on the Nordic jazz scene.

With Anne Efternøler’s expressive trumpet adding a new dimension to the group’s sound, audiences can expect an intimate, immersive, and highly memorable concert experience. As Salt Peanuts wrote of Efternøler, she is “a trumpeter with an expression that goes straight to the heart.”
