In de neon verlichte straten van Tokio liet Erykah Badu recent haar publiek kennis maken met haar nieuwe live concept 'IMEHO': improvisatie, geen script, alleen stem, piano en percussie -- een exclusieve show. IMEHO is geen tournee, het is een alter ego -- een manier om Erykah haar werk in realtime samen te bouwen en het te laten oplossen zodra de lichten aangaan. Tokio kreeg de wereldpremière, maar niemand krijgt die versie nog een keer. Erykah Badu: "IMEHO is een van mijn aliassen. Het legt eigenlijk uit wie ik ben. 'I'm me, ho' is what I'm trying to say. I'm me, bitch, I'm me, ho. I'm me. Ik denk dat het belangrijk was om dat op dit punt in mijn leven uit te drukken, omdat mensen zoveel meningen hebben over wie je bent. Ik dacht, ik laat ze hiermee achter. Ik ben in de eerste plaats een performancekunstenaar. Als het publiek en ik één levend, ademend organisme worden, weet ik echt niet wat er gaat gebeuren. Ik houd wel een setlist bij, ik noem dat de vangrails, zodat de band niet helemaal verdwaald is als we naar hyperspace gaan"

Erykah Badu
Erykah Badu (born Erica Abi Wright on February 26, 1971 in Dallas, Texas) is an American R&B/hip hop artist whose work crosses over into jazz. She is best known for her singles "You Got Me," her collaboration with The Roots, as well as her own songs "Tyrone", "Love of My Life", "On & On", and "Bag Lady." Her lyrics are highly personal urban philosophy which throw emotional challenges in the face of the listener. She weaves unusual musical influences together creating a rich texture of sound.
Some music journalists have labeled her Nu soul, nouvelle-soul or neo soul, often comparing her to Billie Holiday in lyrical delivery and grouping her with Maxwell and D'Angelo in musical genre. She has performed with roots rock reggae musician and singer Burning Spear.
Trivia: Has a son named Seven with OutKast's Andre 3000. The Outkast hit single "Ms. Jackson"(2000) actually adresses Erykah's mother. On July 5, 2004, Badu gave birth to a daughter, Puma, in her Dallas home; the father is reportedly rapper The D.O.C.
